When I got the request from my cousin to please bring down some cake balls (if it wasn't too much trouble) to NY when I came down for the wedding, since it was her and twin's 16th birthday, I Initially wanted to scrap the cake ball idea, and instead do something huge and over the top for their birthday. 16 is special after all! I was thinking something 3 tiered, with all kinds of funky elements and stuff... but alas, my imagination was exceeding the time restraints I had due to the wedding. I had to give the twins a rain check on the cake and instead promise some yummy cake balls. The very next day, the bride called and asked if I would make a cake for the girls because she wanted to acknowledge their birthday on the rehearsal cruise. How could I resist? I was told that all Kathleen wanted was a Beatles cake (preferable Abby Road) and all Kalli wanted was whatever Kathleen wanted. So, here is what I came up with. The girls were very surprised and the look on their faces was priceless!! The cake is devil's food chocolate cake with yummy vanilla buttercream. Those are miniature cake balls around the border - and for anyone who has tried my cake balls, you know how good they are. They are even better tiny!!!
