I think I've mentioned this before... one of my favourite parts of this job is getting to travel through life with my clients and helping celebrate their most special moments.  Anna Maria and Sean were referred to me by a day-job-work friend a couple of years ago.  I met up with the young couple for a tasting to discuss their upcoming wedding, and I was surprised when they asked if I would make their engagement cake.  So that's where we started, and from there I went on to make their wedding cake, parent's and sibling's anniversary cakes, bridal shower and even some birthday cupcakes that Sean surprised his new wife with (where upon I found out they were expecting!).  I was thrilled when Anna Maria contract me regarding the cake for the baptism!  I couldn't wait to meet the newest member of this cute little family.  Anna Maria had seen a picture on my website of a wedding I had done a few months earlier, and she said that was exactly what she was looking for.  We went with a white and pink flower theme.  When I picked up the stand much later that night, Anna Maria said she had something in mind, but I ended up exceeding her expectation!  it was better than she had imagined.  Katerina is a beautiful and very happy baby; I very much look forward to some birthday cakes!

About a year ago, I received a random inquiry through this very website.  Natalie was looking for a wedding cake from a decorator in her area (thank you google!).  We decided to meet up at a local coffee shop (since I don't have my own consultation area yet) to talk about the wedding and have some samples.  I've been really lucky that most of my customers are actually really awesome people too.  Natalie and Treavor were no exception to that!  While I enjoyed a coffee and they snacked on mini cupcakes, I found out the amazing details of their wedding:  Located at Pioneer Village, in the middle of February with sword fighting demonstrations and hulu-hoopers for entertainment.  Oh, and the reception was a masquerade, with masks required for everyone.  The couple decided on a very small display cake for the table and two sheet cakes for cutting.  They went with the fresh lemon curd filling covered in whipped cream and berries for the sheet cakes (not pictured here - darn it!) and lemon curd and vanilla buttercream for the display cake.  Natalie was pretty specific with her design, which was awesome.  Black and white, with teal accents and a mask topper.  Everything except the feathers is edible!  Making the mask was a LOT of fun.  I was super happy with how it turned out, and it gave me the chance to use the edible black disco dust my Aunt spoiled me with a few summers ago.  A couple of days before the wedding, the bride sent me an email asking if I could put the Chinese symbol for Love on the cake.  Of course I said yes, and then proceeded to figure out how I was going to do my first cake tattoo....  After much practice, I knew i just had to go for it.  I used teal glitter dust (with vodka - yum!) and held my breath.  If I screwed it up at this point, I was sunk.  I think I pulled it off though, and the couple seemed very pleased with the result (the bride threw her arms around me, and then proceeded to take her clothes off ask me about it if you see me in person one day!) when I went back to pick up the teal stand.

I baked my first cookie at the age of 5, and have been in love ever since.  The smiles on people's faces when they taste my creations is what keeps my passion alive!
