The cakes for this week are small ones, a 5" and a 6" round. I'm kind of excited for these cakes because they are really superfluous cakes. These are the pre-party cakes... the cakes for the 'family' party before the big event. Both customers have placed larger orders for later in the month, but both wanted small cakes for the actual day of the celebration. I love that people who love my stuff, really *LOVE* my stuff!

I find it interesting that I have some customers who *always* ask for a fondant covered cake... and some who only want buttercream. Personally, I'm not too fond of the taste of the fondant, buttercream is far better for sure (especially my buttercream!). But, fondant makes such a prettier cake, and is easier to decorate with. I think I would be willing to forgo the yumminess of the buttercream on the outside of my cake for the esthetic beauty of the cake. There's always plenty of buttercream in the middle to compensate!
I'm making one buttercream covered and one fondant covered cake this week. We'll see how they turn out. Pictures to follow on Facebook. A few weeks ago, a friend and co-worker asked if I would make a special cake for her son and another cake for her husband. These cakes are going to be two of the most technically difficult cakes I've done so far (except for the hot tub). In addition, someone requested a cake based on my infamous Peanut Butter Poppers - but with cheesecake - for a long time fan's birthday. I've never created anything like it before, but I think it's going to turn out to be fantastic. I don't think it qualifies as a cake though, so I'll have to come up with another namefor the newest creation. Popper Pie, perhaps. Add to that a last minute order for 40 St. Patrick's Day cupcakes, and my schedule is full! Can't wait to see how these creations turn out!
A couple of surprise cakes pop up this week, both for Friday. It seems that Nicolas liked the Transformers cake (as seen on Facebook) and requested one for his birthday. Another client requested something special for her niece's third birthday, so I'm making her a girly, pretty individual cake (5" round)...just for her to dig in to - or sit in - her choice. Let the baking begin!

AuthorI baked my first cookie at the age of 5, and have been in love ever since. The smiles on people's faces when they taste my creations is what keeps my passion alive! Categories
