One of the lucky classes at Credit Meadows Elementary school received a cake on their last day! The Cobra might look a little out of place on this cake, but he's actually the school mascot. I used gum paste for most of the elements on the cake, like the pencil, black board and the cobra. The letters and numbers are cut out of rolled fondant. Inside are yummy layers of vanilla cake and French buttercream icing.

Some readers...*coughmomcough* have suggested that I shouldn't share my challenges and failures with you (personally, I think that success in the face of adversity is a tale worth telling, but whatever) so I'll spare you the tail of the purple fondant. Needless to say, the recipient of the cake was quite happy and I was pleased with how much the cake (unintentionally) ended up matching her beautiful purple dress! I hope someone snaps a picture of her in her dress next to the cake.
