Facebook is great for reconnecting with old friends. It's also a great way to keep an eye on my artistic friend's projects and new creations. And I guess the same can be said about me and my cakes because I recently got a cake request from an old high school friend named Lisa out of the blue. Lisa is also a nail artist who owns her own studio spa in Oakville and does amazing work. Since I have a wedding coming up, I thought this would be a great chance to not only see each other and get caught up, but also to trade services. Best Decision Ever!! Initially I thought about making a giant nail polish bottle for Lisa's cake, but she said she liked light cakes, berries and whipped cream - the lighter stuff. It's pretty tough to carve a fruit filled cake, so I opted for another choice. I used her website for some inspiration, and had lots of fun making the 100% edible nail art tools. Inside is essentially a strawberry short cake - vanilla sponge cake with layers of fresh strawberries and real whipped sweet cream. I had a great time chatting with Lisa and catching up. I also enjoyed the super awesome pampering my feet received! She did a great job on my toes and sent me home with a yummy smelling jar of foot cream. Just look how great they are! And those are *real* flowers, by the way. Shenazy!
