It was my great pleasure to make the cake for my friend Bobby's birthday this week. This cake went through a couple versions before this one was decided. This first was Bobby's head on the Hulk's body. Interesting, but cake decorating is not photoshop. The second was a computer, which makes sense for Bobby, but I honestly wondered how I was going to pull *that* one off! So I asked the birthday boy what he wanted, and he said the Linux penguin. Perfect! At one point I was going to start to get fancy with the cake, by putting yellow stars on the sides and yellow rosettes around the top border. But then I decided to keep it simple: Bobby's not a fancy guy. This was by far the funniest cake cutting I have ever been in the presence of! Bobby cut all around the penguin at all kinds of weird angles and piece sizes, but he kept the cute little guy intact!
I baked my first cookie at the age of 5, and have been in love ever since. The smiles on people's faces when they taste my creations is what keeps my passion alive!
