A new client needed to get some cakes all the way to Ottawa for a wedding this weekend (these are not the wedding cakes, they are just for the sweet table - apparently it is traditional in Serbian weddings for the maid of honour to bring cake). Not only did the cakes need to travel well, but they had to be BIG (something about old gossipy women making comments one another -small- cake at the shower) and assembling tiers wasn't an option. Soooo we decided to go with double layers of the 14" cakes. The bride is french vanilla and the groom is devil's food chocolate. The scariest part of these cakes was trying to get them downstairs to the client for pick up! They were HEAVY and trying to balance one with one arm while I maneuvered the doors was tricky!! Thankfully there were no incidents and the cakes were delivered safely.... now just to hear if they were BIG enough!
